“A tribute to the centenary of Art Deco“
On display since October, the exhibition offers a contemporary reinterpretation of rare Art Deco pieces from our private collection, such as Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann’s rosewood and gilded bronze bookcase, which reveals the Art Deco master’s quest for purity and harmony. A screen designed by Féau Boiseries, based on the bas-reliefs in Ruhlmann’s salon for Lord Rothermere (1925), demonstrates our ability to create a dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation. The sculpted panels by Armand-Albert Rateau, created for Jeanne Lanvin, recall the sculptural power of Art Deco, where wood becomes an expressive material, while the smoking room designed by Maurice Dufrêne for David David Weill’s home is a feat of ebony, mother-of-pearl and gilded bronze.
As the Period Rooms of the Future exhibition draws to a close, Féau Boiseries would like to thank Invisible Collection, as well as the 19M art houses: Goossens, Lesage Intérieurs and Studio MTX, the Biehler & Graveleine studio for the scenography, Lucas Ratton for the touch of African art, and the involvement of the entire Féau Boiseries team!
