“The ne plus ultra of the Parisian wainscoting and fireplace world”

In Tory Burch’s Paris pad, white Louis XVI boiseries and rush carpets offer a neutral foil for richly coloured 17th-century old-master oil paintings and museum-quality furniture. It’s got a jewel personality, says Hamish Bowles.

It’s all white and filled with wondrous antiques mixed cunningly with modern lamps, pictures, furniture and objects. The effect is not unlike her clothing: nostalgic and tidily bohemian. The living quarters form a triptych of sitting room, drawing room and the prettily oval-ended dining room, complete with Louis XVI off-white panelling from Féau Boiseries (the ne plus ultra of the Parisian wainscoting and fireplace world).
